The Engine Control Units (ECU) are the heart of modern cars, controlling the fuel and ignition systems, and this is a large factor in determining the car's power and fuel economy. Car manufacturers spend millions of dollars on designing systems to work in all conditions anywhere in the world. There are compromises required to meet these wide range of conditions resulting in conservative power delivery settings and rich fuel mixtures to cope with variations in climate and possible 'worse case' conditions.

VCM Suite for a Range of Holden V8 and V6 motors.

Howell Automotive uses the VCM Suite software system to enhance the tuning of a range of Holden V8 and V6 engine and transmissions. The VCM suite includes a full featured scanning/logging tool for monitoring your car's operating parameters, helping Howell Automotive to retune your Holden engine to maximise its performance and economy.

Unichip

Unichip is a supplementary engine management system and more advanced than "generic plug-in performance chip" products. Unichip is individually programmable to meet the requirements of engine and driver and can cater for non-standard, current and future engine modifications. Best of all, Unichip delivers the most personalized power result every time - uniquely tuned for fuel type and rating, and even particular ambient conditions of operation.

Unlike many other engine management systems, Unichip does not alter the cold start, knock sensors, water temperature sensors, air temperature sensors or oxygen sensors. All remain genuine components. A major advantage of Unichip is that it works in harmony with the factory ECU to enhance and unleash the best possible performance result without compromising engine durability.

DP Chip - Diesel Power

Diesel cars owners can unleash their engine's potential with a DPChip. Take full advantage of your diesel's power and torque and give petrol car owners a run for their money as you leave them in the dust. Audi A6 benefits from over 500Nm of torque and the DPChip also gives an extra 30% of power to the zippy Golf V 1.9L.

The DPChip diesel power chip is a simple plug and play device that is pre-set to your vehicle type and needs no further adjustment, however if you do modify your engine with extras such as turbos, intercoolers and exhausts the Diesel Power Chip can be finetuned to take full advantage of performance enhancements. DPChip fits in minutes and is simply unplugged to return your vehicle to standard output and condition

Maximise Diesel Power

To take full advantage of performance gains offered by chip tuning in diesels make sure the engine's intake is not clogged up with deposits from the PCV system. Howell Automotive can fit a filter and oil recovery system to reduce these deposits.

Haltech

Haltech engine management systems are designed to be as universal as possible with the ability to control single cylinder motor cycles to V8 racing cars and most engines in between. It can control throttle body, multi-point or staged injection, distributor or direct ignition, naturally aspirated or turbo or supercharged engines. Name the application and in most cases Haltech can control it.

ECU Tuning and Chassis Dynamometers

An essential part of the ECU remapping process is a dyno test of the car’s performance before and after any modifications on the chassis dyno.

The Dyno Dynamics chassis dyno delivers real results as the car is driven under load, simulating normal operating conditions.

This enables the operator to measure the effect of changes made while programming the Engine Management System. This helps the engine tuner make the best ECU settings for your vehicle, not a one size fits all compromise.
